     Dataran Labuan



Dataran Labuan, also called Labuan Square, situated at the center ofLabuan town. Its central focus is an open-air stage with tall flags poles flying the flags of Malaysia. At the other end is a replica of the “Chimney” with beautiful landscaped garden and fountains. It is a popular venue for some of Labuan’s big events and performances..




        The Chimney


It is Labuan’s most well know landmark. It was built in the 1800’s. The height is 106 feet high with 23,000 pieces of red brick imported from England. The small picture is the inside view of the Chimney. Its actual purpose still a mystery.



 

      Bird Park


Located near the Chimney at the Tanjung Kubong. It has three large dome shaped cages surrounded landscaping. It by well landscaping. It has 580 species of tropical birds such as Hornbills, kingfishers, herons, ostriches, peacocks and others.



 

        Surrender Pointer @ Peace Park (situated at Layang-Layangan)




Surrender Point where the 37th Japanese Southern Army surrendered to the 9th Division Australian Forces which marked the end of the war in Borneo. It is also in this are that Southeast Asia’s first war crime trials were conducted. Peace Park is the landscaped park which was built as a memorial and renunciation of the horrors of war. It is symbolizes the promise of peace and harmony for human.





      The World War II Memorial



The largest war grave in Malaysia. Some 3,908 heroes soldiers mostly Australians, British and Indian are buries here. A lot of veteran groups, especially from Austria who included on their battlefield will come to visit The World War II Memorial.



 

         Labuan International Sea Sports Complex




Is a world-class water sports center. It covers an area of 5.91 acres. The facilities include a sea sports center, souvenir shops, eateries and viewing tower. The Labuan Marine museum which has variety of marine fishes also located inside this complex.



 
      Labuan Marine Museum




It’s provided information and knowledge of the island’s rich marine life. Its has two floors of exhibits. Visitors also can touch and feel the displays placed in shallow waters such as starfish, king crabs and sea cucumbers. The 2nd floor exhibition include habitats of coral reefs, habitats of sharks and rays, marine reptiles, commercial fish, marine mammals, marlins, fishing and diving activities, and so on.

 


     Labuan Museum



     Labuan Museum is the third museum established by the Department of Museum and Antiquity in the Federal Territory of Labuan and opened in October 2004. It is display the history and culture of Labuan which include pre-historic era of Labuan, Brunei Sultanate, British colonial days, World War II, Independence, declaration of Labuan as federal territory up to the establishment of Labuan Corporation.
